MORE FOOD ACCIDENTS

A few years back, in the heart of a birthday circle, I watched, from across the space, as Tiffany's three-bed cake, still on the layer part of a cake pedestal, slid off from its pedestal and malignant to the floor, concreted sugar side down and plate now on the top. A moiety dozen minute girls came running when they heard me say, "Oh, NO!" We all stood there looking at it for a few seconds and then they started screaming. (Minute girls do that.) One of them yelled, "Five next to the first rule," but I didn't let them do that. I was versed to salvage the two layers that hadn't made close union with the floor. A natal day to remember, eh, Pet?

More recently, Bernie and I made a big dinner for his kids. He had purchased a big swine-flesh loin and we unwavering to put it in our Corningware dish that belonged to our big crockpot, but to roast it in the according to rule oven. We had all the equipage: mashed potatoes, cereal grain from our garden, verdant beans with bacon, rolls, homemade apple pie. And the delicate savor of the roast was pleasing. When the meat was fitted to come out of the oven, Bernie made me pace aside as I am constantly hot myself. (I can't remove scorch from the toaster without flaming my fingers. I have to use those made of wood tongs. This line, I inherited from my female parent.) I should have interpreted the signs earlier in the day when Bernie dropped a jar of pickles. You be aware of what's coming, don't you? As Bernie was removing the roast, the viand hit the edge of the reckoner and he fumbled. The article of food hit our ceramic tile cover with a floor and smashed to smitherines. If you've ever managed to part any Corningware dishes, you know what I'm declaration. It was like flakes of glass with only a few larger pieces of the article of food remaining. The roast was in the medial of it all. Nice and delicate and juicy and smelling portentous. The braver of the bump picked through and got a tiny bite of it. Not me. I was not remotely a vegetarian that day.
